July Opening Festival Performance

Re: Opening of COECA - Carnival Items (Ukulele / Guitar)

Thank you for your school's participation in the Opening of the Centre of Excellence for Creative Arts (COECA), which will be held in the afternoon of 11 July 2008. There will be 4 Carnival venues spread across the 2 campuses of PLMGS(Pri) and PLMGS(Sec) and your school will be sited in one of the 4 Carnival venues. Each venue will have 7 booths with a variety of items. The carnival visitors will be assigned specific carnival venues to ensure even distribution of visitors so that there is no overcrowding and all participants and visitors alike can enjoy the items. The Carnival Segment of the Opening is expected to last from 3.00 - 5.30 pm. You will be presenting to a different group of visitors (about 30 each time) every quarter of an hour with a break in between. More details will be given to you at a later date. Your Guitar / Ukulele ensemble will be required to perform for about 5 - 6 minutes and the rest of the 6 - 7 minutes will be spent showing the visitors how to play the instrument with hands-on from the individuals from the crowd. A suggestion would be to co-opt volunteers and at the end of the session be able to strum 3 basic chords to accompany a simple 4 bar tune.
