Hi Guys

while we look forward to orientation tmr here are some updates and reminders.

the ensemble (everybody) pieces that we have to get done by January are:

1. CLOSE TO YOU (opening)
2. IN A CHILDHOOD (opening)
3. CHORO (opening)
4. CAN YOU CELEBRATE (finale)
5. EL BIMBO (encore)

'get done' means that all your notes should sound, and sound well. maybe except choro, coz we haven't started that yet. it'll be good to practice with guitar pro, because then you'll get a better idea of when you should come in after rests, or if you are harmonizing with a lead part, or if you're the leading melody. and do remember that tabs are your stepping stones to reading proper notes, so don't be too reliant on them.

14 weeks to concert, time flies when you're in a new environment, so do practice hard at home!

Year 5s, your pieces are Doraemon, Can't help falling in love and Over the rainbow. Try to aim for it to sound whole when everybody plays, by January. Without Kevin filling in for any part. That will leave us with February to refine these pieces, so we can focus on the whole concert and especially the ensemble pieces in March.

When you practice, please get your basics right or it will be hard to change habits like straining your thumb as your practice more and get use to it. Try to adjust your playing position or fingerwork so that you produce a good and round tone. Keep your fingers down, and sustain your notes. Practice your vibrato, pizzicato, tremolo, pulling and hammering, and strengthen your fingers by doing those finger exercises. Jiayou =)

Year 6s. our pieces are Canon, Haruyo Koi, La Cumparsita, White Love, and possibly La Seville and another Jap piece that starts with Tian Shi o.0 We went through the dynamics for Haruyo, so if you haven't written them down please do so by the next practice.

Chamber people, we are supposed to show a marked improvement by 15 january, which is next next tuesday.

To all, please remember to bring a pencil for EVERY PRACTICE. It's to write down any performance directions, circle your weaker or impt parts to practice, and to write down changes and stuff. Plus, please stick or file your scores by the next practice, and preferably write your name because there are more and more loose scores lying around. And do ask for the guitar pro for your pieces, from Yiwei or anybody you think might have them.

We could start to sell or publicise tickets by word of mouth.

And please give your baby photos to valerie soon too!

2008 is an important year for guitar club.
